Helping people reach their potential.
At the YMCA, we care about providing equitable access and quality programming in all of the communities we serve. We know that when children, youth, and adults from low-income families have equal opportunities to thrive—everyone wins.
Our donors help us build dynamic new centres of community where everyone is welcome, create innovative programs like mental wellness groups for teens and youth, and support fellow community members in need by contributing to financial access so everyone can participate in programs like summer camps, employment programs, and fitness classes for seniors.
In 2019, thanks to generous donors, the YMCA of Greater Vancouver:
- Received $5,269,696 in capital donations and $6,485,433 in annual donations.
- Provided $2,004,514 in direct financial assistance to 10,750+ people.
- Working with 290 community partners.
From the Sea-to-Sky to Chilliwack, and beyond!
With 222 program sites all over Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, the impact of a donation to the Y has a far reach. A donation to the YMCA could mean that siblings from Campbell River get to experience the magic of overnight camp at YMCA Camp Elphinstone for the first time, or a single parent can access reliable child care in South Surrey, or a family living in Chilliwack can register their children for swim lessons, without financial barriers.
But the giving doesn't stop in B.C.! With the generous help of local donors, the YMCA of Greater Vancouver provides support to YMCA Ethiopia as part of its Global Initiatives. YMCA projects in Ethiopia include HIV/AIDS education and prevention, providing school supplies and tutorial programs, and equipment for children's sports, recreation, and cultural programs.
